The other Richard Thompson

Yesterday Whisky P offered qualified praise re: music of one Richard Thompson — the one who turns up front & center when you google Richard Thompson.

Seems like a good occasion for mentioning the Richard Thompson I've long been bonkers over — and there is, I find, finally a page worth linking to. And the occasion's that much more perfect, right here, in following directly on a post referencing George Herriman — whose work's legacy Thompson's surely reflects, on every level, better than any other noteworthy cartoonist active today.

This is the first I've seen this Thompson guy (I don't usually buy the newspaper with cartoons) - very cool! Thank you for the introduction.

I wondered if you'd known of him. Thought it a good possibility you hadn't, since though his editorial illustration is relatively prominent nationally, the regular cartooning has all been for the Post down here in D.C. Cul de Sac had only been a weekly strip running in the Post Magazine, a weekend supplement, as far as I know. (Looks like he might have gone daily with it now. — ? — I need to look into it further.)

Anyway, it appears the stuff is now all available on the Post web site.

Check out this edition of Richard's Poor Almanac from last year (a seemingly random Google return). — I think you'll like it.
